RED CLAY JOURNAL

The Faces behind the Magazine
Red Clay Journal is the brainchild of Thomas Alexander and Samuel J Fox, long time natives and artists in Statesville, NC. They came together one sunny afternoon in their bare-feet walking through the clay on Thomas's property and ever since have been designing a literary arts journal that would fit the needs of Iredell County natives.
We publish a periodical every quarter of the year (four print periodicals of art and letters). We embrace people from all walks of life so long as they live in Iredell County. We encourage high school and local college students to submit as well as adults who are emerging or established artists/writers.

Currently, Thomas Alexander is a PhD candidate at the University of South Carolina at Columbia studying comparative literature and numerous languages. He is currently working on his dissertation on gender studies in the mining systems of South America and is even working it into a documentary. Thomas Alexander is the face and primary voice over all decisions regarding the journal.

Samuel J Fox graduated from both Statesville Sr. High and Mitchell Community College and received a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from Western Carolina University. He currently has several chapbooks and numerous publications in online and print journals. He has lived in Statesville since 1993. Samuel is the editor and primary "operational manager" of the journal.
